Refund, Return & Cancellation Policy
This policy explains how orders placed with Gatha Cognition can be cancelled, returned or refunded. It applies to purchases made on the Online Platform (gathacognition.com) and at the Gatha Cognition local store, and should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
1. What this policy covers
- Printed books (paperback and hardcopy) – ordered online and dispatched by the book’s publisher, or bought at the Gatha Cognition local store.
- Digital content – e-books, PDF access, Kindle and audio editions, articles, chapters and subscriptions (Premium Access Content).
- Article Processing Charges (APC) paid under Open Access Plus.
GATHA COGNITION® is the central point of contact for every order, including orders dispatched by publishers. Please send all requests to us, not to the publisher.
2. Cancelling an order
- Printed books: an order can be cancelled before it is dispatched. Write to us with your order number and you will receive a full refund. Once an order has been dispatched it cannot be cancelled; please see Returns below.
- Pre-orders: can be cancelled at any time before the book is released or dispatched, with a full refund.
- Digital content and subscriptions: cannot be cancelled once the access key or download has been provided (Terms & Conditions, Section H).
3. Returns and replacements – printed books
We accept a return if the book you receive is:
- damaged or defective (for example missing, misprinted or blank pages, or a torn or badly damaged cover), or
- different from the book you ordered.
How to request a return: write to us within 7 days of delivery with your order number, a short description of the problem and clear photographs of the book and its packaging. The book must be unused and returned with its original invoice. We will arrange the return with the publisher who dispatched the book (or with our local store) and send you a replacement; if a replacement is not available, you will receive a full refund. Return shipping for a damaged, defective or wrong book is borne by the seller (the publisher who dispatched it, or Gatha Cognition), not by you.
Returns are not accepted for change of mind or for a title ordered by mistake.
Books bought at the Gatha Cognition local store can be exchanged at the store within 7 days of purchase, with the bill, for the same reasons (damaged, defective or wrong book).
4. Digital content
Digital content is non-refundable once access has been provided, except where:
- you were charged but did not receive access to the item,
- you were charged more than once for the same item, or
- the file is corrupt and we are unable to provide a working copy.
Please report such cases within 7 days of purchase.
5. Article Processing Charges (APC)
Article Processing Charges paid under Open Access Plus are non-refundable. If an APC was paid twice by mistake for the same article, the extra payment will be refunded.
6. Failed or duplicate payments
If money was debited from your account but no order was confirmed, or you were charged twice for the same order, write to us with the payment or transaction reference. After verification with the payment gateway, the amount will be refunded in full.
7. How and when refunds are made
- Approved refunds are processed within 7 working days.
- Refunds are credited to the original payment method / bank account used for the payment, as per the rules and timelines of the payment gateway (CCAvenue for payments in Indian Rupees; PayPal for payments in US Dollars). Your bank or PayPal may take a few additional days to show the credit.
- For international (US Dollar) orders, shipping is charged at actual cost and is not refundable, except for a damaged, defective or wrong book.
