Accounts & sign-in
Which account do I need?
There are three separate sign-ins:
- Reader account (Sign In) – to buy and read articles, chapters, e-books and printed books, and for library access.
- Manuscript Portal (Manuscript Portal) – for authors, reviewers and editors. One portal account works for all your roles.
- Publisher Portal (Publisher login) – for publishers who sell their books on our bookstore.
One person can have more than one account, for example a reader account and a portal account.
Can I sign in with my email instead of my User ID?
Yes. The reader account and the Manuscript Portal accept your email or your User ID with your password. The eye button shows the password as you type it.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Use the link under the Sign in button – Lost your password? (reader account), Forgot Password (Manuscript Portal) or Forgot password? (Publisher Portal). A reset link comes to your email. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder, then write to office@gathacognition.com.
Sign-in says to wait. Why?
After 5 wrong tries, sign-in pauses for 15 minutes to protect your account. Wait, then try again, or reset your password.
I have two accounts with different emails. Can they be joined?
Yes. In the Manuscript Portal, ask to merge them from My Profile; otherwise write to office@gathacognition.com with both email addresses. For your safety, both email addresses have to confirm the merge.
Authors
How do I submit a manuscript?
Only through the Manuscript Portal. Register or sign in, create the manuscript and submit it in five steps. Please read the Author Guide (or the e-book Author Guide for chapters) first.
Step-by-step with screenshots: Manuscript submission.
Is there a fee to submit or to publish?
There is no fee to submit, no fee for peer review and no page charge. Standard publication costs you nothing.
Open Access Plus is your choice after acceptance: the article is free for everyone to read, for an APC of ₹7,500 (India) or $200 (outside India). Low-income countries are free, and students get 50% off. All articles submitted in 2026 are published Open Access free of charge.
Details: Journal fees · Open Access Policy.
Can I save my submission and finish it later?
Yes. Save at any of the five steps and continue later from Unsubmitted Manuscript(s) → Continue Submission; a step turns green when it is complete. Put author names only on the separate first page, keep the main Word file under 5 MB and upload figures as separate files. The portal builds one PDF for you to check, and you get your Manuscript ID (for example GCJ1M123) by email.
Can I change my manuscript after submitting it?
No. A submitted manuscript is locked while it is with the editors, until a revision decision is sent to you. If something important must be corrected, email the editor from the portal or write to office@gathacognition.com with your Manuscript ID.
Can I see the similarity (plagiarism) report?
Yes. Every manuscript is checked with Turnitin iThenticate, and you can see the score and open the report from your manuscript page in the portal.
How do I check the status of my manuscript?
Sign in to the Manuscript Portal as author. Your manuscripts are listed under Unsubmitted (new, saved, or returned to you for corrections), Under review and With decision (decisions, revisions, proofs and the published copy). You also get an email at each step.
How does peer review work, and how long does it take?
The editorial office checks the manuscript first, then an editor assesses it, and independent experts review it double-blind. Each reviewer has 30 days for a report, and at least two reports are needed for a decision. The time depends on the reviewers; you can follow every stage in the portal.
Full process: Editorial Policies.
My manuscript was returned to me. What should I do?
Before peer review, the editorial office may return a manuscript with a list of corrections. This is not a rejection: it is back under Unsubmitted; correct it and use Continue Submission.
What do the decisions mean, and how do I revise?
The decision comes by email and in Manuscript(s) with Decision: Accept, Minor revision, Major revision, Reject, or Decline (returned without peer review). For a revision, click Resubmission, upload the revised manuscript and a Response to Comments answering every point, and submit. Revisions are numbered R1, R2…, and Compare versions shows what changed.
I have received the proof. How do I correct it?
Please reply within 48 hours. Mark each correction as a comment in the proof PDF (not in Word), answer every query, save under a new name with your Manuscript ID, and upload it with Submit Corrected Proof. Upload the signed copyright form with Submit Copyrights, then click Approve Article Proof when the copy is right.
Only the corresponding author works on the proof; co-authors send their corrections to the corresponding author.
Step by step: Proof Correction Guide.
Where can I get my published article and e-prints?
Your published articles, chapters and books stay in your author account: view, read and download them at any time. You also get 50 free e-prints to share your article; more can be ordered online.
Can I use ChatGPT or other AI tools?
Only to help with language and similar tasks, and you must disclose it in the cover letter and in the Methods or Acknowledgments. AI tools can never be an author or a cited source, and you are responsible for every fact and reference.
Rules: AI Use Policy.
How do I submit the chapters of an edited book?
In the author portal, open My Book(s), add the book, and submit each chapter through the same five steps. See the e-book Author Guide.
How do I publish a book or propose a special issue?
Send a book proposal (new books, theses, edited volumes, proceedings) or a special issue proposal (no fee to propose or guest-edit). To start or move a journal, see journal proposals.
Reviewers
How do I accept or decline an invitation?
Click Accept or Decline in the invitation email, or sign in to the Manuscript Portal and open Call for Reviewers. Your sign-in details come by email with your first invitation.
How much time do I have for a review?
The report is due 30 days from the invitation. Accepted manuscripts are listed under Active Manuscript(s) with the due date, and the editorial office sends reminders.
How do I submit my report?
In the portal, open the manuscript in Active Manuscript(s) and click Submit Report. Four parts are required: your recommendation (accept, minor revision, major revision or reject), the major contributions of the manuscript, a confidential report to the editor (never shown to the authors) and comments for the author(s). You can attach up to two files, for example an annotated manuscript.
With screenshots: Report submission.
Can I save my report and finish it later?
Yes. A report can be saved at any time, even incomplete; it is only sent when the four required parts are filled in. After submitting, you can view and print your report in Assignment(s) Completed.
How can I become a reviewer?
Reviewers are invited by field. Send your CV and areas of expertise to office@gathacognition.com; you get your sign-in details by email.
What do reviewers receive?
Reviewers are acknowledged on the last page(s) of the published issue, and get free access to the article they reviewed once it is published.
Can I use AI tools for my review?
No manuscript content – text, figures, data or any excerpt – may be put into ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or any other AI tool, and AI may not write the substance of your review. Use the similarity report and Compare versions provided on the portal.
Editors
How do I handle a manuscript assigned to me?
New assignments appear under Call for Editor; accept or decline each one. The editorial office has already checked the manuscript (scope, formatting, completeness and similarity). On the manuscript page you find the full PDF, every file, the Turnitin report and, for revisions, Compare versions.
Step by step: Editorial management · Editor functionality.
How do I find and invite reviewers?
Choose reviewers from the reviewers’ database by name, affiliation and keywords, or use Add New Reviewer. They are invited by email and can accept without signing in; the report is due in 30 days. You can follow each reviewer’s status, unassign one and invite another. At least two reports are needed for a decision, and a third referee is asked when reports disagree.
How do I send a decision?
Choose Accept, Minor revision, Major revision or Reject, write your comments for the author and attach files if needed. Save first; Send Decision emails the author with the reviewers’ comments. Reviewers whose report is still pending are released with a thank-you email.
How do I become an editor, and what do editors receive?
Editors are appointed by the editorial office, which sends the sign-in details by email; to offer your services, write to office@gathacognition.com. The Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors and Editorial Board members get online certificates and free access to the issues and articles they edited.
What are my responsibilities as an editor?
Roles, the review process, confidentiality and ethics (COPE) are explained on For Editors & Reviewers.
Is every manuscript checked for similarity?
Yes. Every manuscript is checked with Turnitin iThenticate, and the similarity report is available on the portal.
May editors use AI tools?
Manuscripts are confidential: manuscript content, author identities and reviewer reports may never be entered into a third-party AI tool, and AI must not make or replace an editorial decision. See AI Use Policy for editors.
Readers & book buyers
Do I need an account to read articles?
No. Open Access articles, chapters and books can be read and downloaded without an account. A free reader account is needed to buy content and to find it again later.
Where do I find what I have bought?
Sign in and open My Account: Purchased Articles / Chapters, Purchased Volumes / Issues, Purchased Books and Purchased Bookstore (digital editions open with Read Book). What you buy stays in your account.
How can I pay?
Online: in Indian Rupees (cards, UPI, net banking) from India, or in US Dollars by PayPal from other countries. No GST is charged at present.
Money was taken but my order is not shown. What now?
Please do not pay again. Write to office@gathacognition.com with your payment reference, and we will confirm your order.
How do I track my book order?
Open My Bookstore Orders and click View to see the books, delivery address and status (for example Dispatched or Delivered). Orders started but not paid are listed separately; you can complete the payment or remove them.
Can I cancel or return a book?
A printed book can be cancelled with a full refund before it is dispatched. A damaged, defective or wrong book must be reported within 7 days. Approved refunds are paid within 7 working days. Digital content cannot be refunded once access is given, with some exceptions.
Always write to Gatha Cognition (not the publisher), with your order number. Full policy: Refund, Return & Cancellation.
What are e-Prints?
Access codes for one article, bought in bulk – for example for a class or a conference. Find them under My E-Prints → View Token, and download them with Generate CSV.
Libraries & institutions
How do I register our library?
Create a free reader account for the library, then under My Account → My Library Access ask to be a library, with your institution’s name and email domain. We check the institution and email you the invite code and join link.
How do our students and staff get access?
Once your library is approved, everything it buys or subscribes to also opens for your members from their own reader accounts – no seat limit. Readers join with their institutional email (confirmed by a code) or with the library’s invite code. Membership lasts one year and is renewed the same way.
What does a journal subscription cost, and for how long?
A library subscription covers all paid articles of one journal for the calendar year (January–December): ₹4,000 / $250. Open Access articles are always free. All prices: Journal fees.
Can we get an invoice instead of paying online?
Yes. Write to office@gathacognition.com and we will prepare an invoice for your institution.
Publishers (bookstore)
How can we sell our books on Gatha Cognition?
Write to office@gathacognition.com. We create your publisher account and email you the sign-in details. You keep your stock and send the orders; we list your books and take the payment. Plans and commission: Book distribution.
How do we add our books?
One at a time with Add Bookstore, or many at once with Upload Books (Excel) (up to 500 per file). An ISBN that is already on the site is refused.
When does a new book appear in the bookstore?
After Gatha Cognition approves it. Until then it shows Pending Admin Approval in Manage Books.
How do we add our own stock?
Open Book Stock → New Purchase Request, choose the book, type, quantity and price, and submit. Gatha Cognition approves it and sets the commission.
Who sends an online order for our book?
A printed-book order comes to you when your own stock has enough copies; otherwise Gatha Cognition sends it from its stock. E-book, Kindle and audio orders always go to the publisher. New orders show in the bell and by email.
How are we paid?
The Ledger shows sales, commission, the amount payable and payments received. Commission is taken on the book price only, never on shipping. Payments go to the bank account in your profile.
Policies
Where can I find all your policies?
On the Policies page: Privacy, Terms & Conditions, Open Access, AI Use, CrossMark, and Refund, Return & Cancellation. Journal and book rules are in the Editorial Policies and the Author Guide.
Can I correct or delete my personal information?
Update your details in My Profile. To close your account or delete your information, write to office@gathacognition.com. Published work (your name and affiliation on an article, chapter or book) stays part of the permanent scholarly record, but we correct mistakes in it on request.
Is my manuscript kept confidential?
Yes. Only the editorial office, the handling editor and the invited reviewers can open it, and review is double-blind. The similarity check identifies you to Turnitin only by an internal number, and reviewers and editors may not put a manuscript into any AI tool.
Who owns the copyright of my published article?
Standard publication: you sign the Publishing Agreement, which transfers the copyright to Gatha Cognition. Open Access Plus: you keep the copyright, and the article is published under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence. Material owned by others needs the owner’s written permission before you submit.
Which publication ethics do you follow?
We follow the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Plagiarism, duplicate submission, fabricated or manipulated data and undisclosed conflicts of interest are treated as research-integrity concerns, and every manuscript is checked with Turnitin iThenticate.
How are errors in a published article corrected?
Through a published correction, retraction or editorial note, following our CrossMark Policy. The CrossMark button on each article and chapter page shows its current status. Content is removed only under a legal order. Found an error? Write to office@gathacognition.com with the DOI or title.
What do the Terms & Conditions cover?
The rules for using gathacognition.com: the types of content (Premium, Free and Open Access), intellectual property, registered accounts and passwords, prices and payments, and our liability.
